November 2026 brings a busy month for your money. Central government pensioners must submit their life certificate by 30 November, prices of 137 cancer drugs fall from 9 November, businesses that need a tax audit have until 21 November to file their ITR, and employers must pay the statutory bonus by month-end. Here are the seven changes and deadlines that matter, and what you should do about each.
Quick summary: Life certificate window: 1–30 November (under 80). Cancer drug margins capped at 30% from 9 November. ITR for audit cases due 21 November 2026. Statutory bonus due by 30 November. LPG prices revised on 1 November.

1. Pensioners: life certificate window opens
From 1 November, central government pensioners below 80 can submit their annual life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan). Those aged 80 and above could start from 1 October. The last date is 30 November 2026. If you miss it, your December pension can be held until you submit.
- From home: use face authentication on the Jeevan Pramaan or AadhaarFaceRD app with your Aadhaar-linked details.
- Doorstep: India Post Payments Bank and many banks offer doorstep collection for a small fee.
- In person: at your pension-paying bank branch or a common service centre.
Tip: Submit in the first two weeks. Bank servers and doorstep slots get crowded near the deadline.
2. Cancer drugs up to 70% cheaper from 9 November
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has capped trade margins at 30% for 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines, through a gazette notification dated 17 October 2026. Revised MRPs take effect from 9 November, and the government expects prices of some brands to fall by up to 70%.
The list covers widely used therapies such as pembrolizumab, bevacizumab, osimertinib, durvalumab, denosumab and pegfilgrastim. A similar 2019 pilot on 42 cancer drugs cut the MRP of 526 brands by up to 90%. If you or a family member are on long-term treatment, ask your chemist or hospital pharmacy for the revised MRP after 9 November, and check how much of the cost your health insurance covers.
3. ITR deadline for tax audit cases: 21 November
The CBDT had already extended the due dates for AY 2026-27 (FY 2025-26) for taxpayers whose accounts need an audit:
| Filing | Original due date | Extended due date |
|---|---|---|
| Tax audit report | 30 September 2026 | 21 October 2026 |
| ITR (audit cases) | 31 October 2026 | 21 November 2026 |
If you miss the date, you pay interest of 1% a month on unpaid tax and a late fee of up to ₹5,000. Salaried taxpayers whose July deadline has passed can still file a belated return by 31 December 2026. See the income tax slabs and our crypto tax guide if you have VDA income to report.
4. Statutory bonus must be paid by 30 November
Establishments with 20 or more workers must pay the annual statutory bonus for 2025-26 by 30 November 2026, under the Code on Wages, 2019. The minimum bonus is 8.33% of wages earned in the year (or ₹100, whichever is higher), and it can go up to 20% depending on the company’s profits. If you have not received it, check with HR, because the deadline is fixed by law.
5. LPG cylinder prices revised on 1 November
Oil marketing companies revise domestic (14.2 kg) and commercial (19 kg) LPG prices on the first of every month. Check your city’s new price on your distributor’s app. To keep receiving the subsidy on domestic cylinders, complete your Aadhaar e-KYC with your gas agency if you have not already done so.
6. GST changes for businesses
Following the GST Council meeting on 8 October 2026, changes notified on 26 October take effect from 1 November. They clarify how post-sale discounts given through credit notes are treated, and allow eligible low-risk businesses with an inverted duty structure to get up to 90% of their refund provisionally. Small manufacturers and exporters should see faster refunds and better cash flow. Use our GST calculator to check invoices.
7. EPF: watch for the startup-investment decision
EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees is expected to consider a proposal in November to invest up to 3% of fresh yearly inflows in startup and alternative investment funds. Nothing changes for your PF balance yet; read what the EPFO plan means for your PF.
