Frequently asked questions
Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than CTC?
CTC includes employer costs like PF and gratuity that you don’t receive monthly, and your gross salary is further reduced by your own PF contribution, professional tax and income tax.
What basic % should I use?
Under the new labour codes, wages (basic + DA) should generally be at least 50% of total pay, so 50% is a good default. Check your offer letter for the exact figure.
Is variable pay or bonus included?
This calculator assumes the full CTC is paid. If part of your CTC is variable or performance-linked, subtract it from CTC for a realistic monthly figure.
