Pensioners can submit their 2026 life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) from home in about 10 minutes, using just an Android phone, Aadhaar and their PPO number. Pensioners below 80 must submit between 1 and 30 November 2026. Those aged 80 and above could start on 1 October. If no certificate is on record by 30 November, your pension can be stopped from December until you submit. This guide shows every way to do it, step by step.
Quickest way: install the AadhaarFaceRD and Jeevan Pramaan Face apps, scan your face, and get a Pramaan ID by SMS. No bank visit, no fingerprint device.
Key takeaways
- Deadline: 30 November 2026 for central and state government pensioners.
- 80+ pensioners: window opened on 1 October 2026.
- EPS-95 (EPFO) pensioners: can submit any time; the certificate is valid for 12 months.
- You need: Aadhaar, Aadhaar-linked mobile, PPO number, and bank or pension-office details.
- Missed it? Pension is paused, not lost. It restarts with arrears once you submit.

Documents and details to keep ready
- Aadhaar number (your name must match Aadhaar exactly)
- Mobile number linked to Aadhaar, for the OTP
- PPO (Pension Payment Order) number
- Pension bank account number
- Names of your Pension Sanctioning Authority and Disbursing Authority (bank or office)
- An Android phone with a working front camera (for face authentication)
Method 1: Face authentication from home (step by step)
- From the Google Play Store, install AadhaarFaceRD (by UIDAI) and the Jeevan Pramaan Face app.
- Open Jeevan Pramaan Face. Enter your Aadhaar number and mobile number, then the OTP.
- Do the operator authentication first. A family member can be the operator, or you can do it yourself.
- Now do pensioner authentication. Enter your name as in Aadhaar, PPO number, pension type, and the sanctioning and disbursing authority.
- Hold the phone at eye level in good light and blink when asked. Remove glasses and caps.
- Once your face is matched, the certificate is generated. You get an SMS with your Pramaan ID.
Tip: if face matching fails again and again, try in daylight with a plain wall behind you. If it still fails, use the bank or doorstep option.
Method 2: Fingerprint or iris device
If you have a UIDAI-certified fingerprint or iris scanner, you can generate the certificate with the Jeevan Pramaan app or PC client. This is useful where face matching does not work. Most bank branches and CSCs use this method.
Method 3: Doorstep service (for elderly or unwell pensioners)
- India Post Payments Bank (IPPB): call your local post office or IPPB customer care to book a postman visit. EPS-95 pensioners can ask for a free home visit.
- Doorstep banking by public sector banks: book through the PSB Alliance doorstep banking website (psbdsb.in) or its toll-free numbers.
Method 4: Bank branch, CSC, post office or UMANG
- Your pension bank branch can generate the digital certificate or accept the paper form.
- Common Service Centres (CSC) and post offices can do it with a fingerprint device. A small fee may apply at CSCs.
- UMANG app also offers the Jeevan Pramaan service.
- EPS-95 pensioners can visit the nearest EPFO office.
How to download the certificate and check if it was accepted
- Note the Pramaan ID from the SMS.
- Go to jeevanpramaan.gov.in and choose the option to download a certificate.
- Enter your Pramaan ID and the OTP. The PDF shows the status.
- Check again after a few days. Being generated is not the same as being accepted by your bank.
If it is rejected, the usual reasons are a wrong PPO number, the wrong disbursing authority, or a name that does not match Aadhaar. Fix the detail and generate a fresh certificate.
What if you miss 30 November?
Your pension may be stopped from December. It is not cancelled. Submit the certificate and the pension restarts, with the held amount paid as arrears. If it does not restart, file a grievance on CPENGRAMS, or complain to the RBI Ombudsman if the bank is at fault.
